Seventeenth surgery. The anaesthetic takes effect. Before the void, the uncertainty of reaching the other side. That’s his addiction.

NO SPOILERS PLEASE.

He flips open every paperback and tears out the final page. Because nobody knows how their story will end.

KILLING TIME IN THE AFTERLIFE.

He suggested a game of existential eye-spy. His opening gambit; something beginning with “PP”. “Peoples potential” she guessed, correctly.
