BLOG NUMBER FIFTY-THREE: POETRY IS MY CURRENCY.

"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one."

ALBERT EINSTEIN

TRICK TIP by Steven Holding.

ARTPARTY

Invitations hand-inked calligraphy reads “UM, MUSE?... USE MUM!”

Once decoded, painted and decorated, I go. After midnight, only rogues roam these galleries, making exhibitions of themselves.

Impressionists; a load of pollocks, plenty of pop, it’s so real!

Steal a sculpted kiss, kill the artist.

Finding out, I’ve just been framed.

AN UNCANNY RESEMBLANCE

Confident strokes corral oil explosions; bristled instrument slicing the thin canvas of reality.

Trading paintings for pennies feels traitorous to the muse. His, a truth brush, allows the now to be seen as it is.

As easel is flipped and portrait is displayed, no subject can bear such a privilege. The burning gaze of their secret self.

TRIPTYCH

Porcelain figures, proudly displayed, beatific angels caught in prayer. Representations of three wayward brothers.

One by one, as they’d broken her heart, she’d taken a hammer and reduced them to pieces.

When she was gone, each wished they’d tried harder, lending a hand, helping her to glue things back together.

Taking the fragments, forging a fusion.

An illusion.

A good son.
